What do I do if I have a water leak?Turn off the water supply: If it's a significant leak, locate your main water shutoff valve and turn it off immediately to prevent further water damage. For smaller leaks, you can try turning off the valve to the specific fixture (like a sink or toilet) where the leak is occurring. Assess the leak: Identify where the leak is coming from. This can help you determine if it’s something you can temporarily manage or if you need professional help. Contain the water: Use towels, buckets, or a wet/dry vacuum to soak up any standing water. If the leak is on a ceiling, try placing a container underneath to catch the drips. Check for visible damage: Examine the area for visible signs of damage, such as water stains, mold, or swelling of drywall or flooring. This will help you when explaining the issue to a plumber. Contact us: If you can't fix the leak yourself or if it’s causing significant damage, it’s best to call us. Leaks can often get worse over time, leading to more serious damage, so it's important to get it fixed as soon as possible. Check for hidden leaks: If the leak isn't visible, it may be hidden behind walls or under floors. We have the tools to detect hidden leaks, such as thermal imaging or acoustic leak detection.

What should I do if I'm not having hot water in my home?If you find yourself without hot water, there are a few steps you can take before calling a plumber. First, check if the issue is affecting the entire house or just specific faucets. If it's the entire house, inspect your water heater. Ensure it's receiving power—check the circuit breaker and reset it if necessary for electric heaters, or ensure the pilot light is lit for gas heaters. For gas units, verify that the gas supply valve is open and that the pilot light is on. If these steps don’t resolve the problem, it might indicate more significant issues such as a faulty heating element, malfunctioning thermostat. In such cases, it’s best to contact a professional plumber. At Virtue Plumbing, our expert plumbers are experienced in diagnosing and repairing all types of water heater problems, ensuring you get your hot water back as quickly as possible. Contact us for a thorough inspection and professional service tailored to your specific needs.
